Visitors to Southeast Indiana are invited to step back in time to 1855 at historic Hillforest Victorian House Museum, which has reopened its doors for the 2024 season. The mansion is now open through December 31, with tours  offered every day except for Mondays and major holidays. Visitors will also want to mark their calendars for the many teas, tours and special events that take place at Hillforest throughout the year – including a special Wizard of Oz Book Tea taking place on April 20.

Located a few blocks from the Ohio River in the city of Aurora, Hillforest welcomes visitors from April through December. The mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. Its unique steamboat-style architecture – including an ornate entrance, dramatic third-floor cupola and period-style rooms – transport visitors back to the mid-19th century, when sternwheelers plied the Ohio River and regularly stopped in Aurora.

Tours of Hillforest are $10 for adults and students over age 13; $4 for children ages 7-13; and free for children 6 and under.

Check out Hillforest online – or on their Facebook page – to learn more.
