Five historic homes in the City of Greendale, Indiana (plus one bonus home in Lawrenceburg) will open their doors to visitors this Saturday for a special one-day home tour event. Greendale’s fifth-annual Christmas on the Avenue will take place in this historic Southeast Indiana community on Saturday, December 13.
The festively-decorated properties reflect the history of residents who helped shape and grow the City of Greendale, a picturesque community located in Southeast Indiana. Participants can visit the 1923 Perleberg Home at 140 Oakey Ave.; the 1937 Canfield Home, 57 Oakey Ave.; the 1940 Karsteter Home, 215 Oakey Ave.; the 1935 Bauer Home, 209 Oakey Ave.; and the 1932 Douglass Home, 50 Tebbs Ave. Also included is an offsite bonus home – the historic 1847 Daniel S. Major house, often referred to as Twin Bays, on US 50 in Lawrenceburg.
The event will run from 5-9pm, with check-in registration and wristband pick-up taking place at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 570 N. Sheldon St., Greendale, from 4:30-8pm.
Tickets to Greendale’s Christmas on the Avenue are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-12. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Dearborn County Historical Society for upkeep of the Vance-Tousey House and Angevine Cabin.
Visitors will also want to be sure to pick up a special-edition 2025 Holiday ornament featuring the Diehl-Krider House on Ridge Avenue. Sales of the ornament will benefit Greendale Main Street, which is coordinating the Christmas home tour and which works to attract visitors to the City of Greendale’s historic district both during the holiday season and throughout the year.
